The Church of Our Holy Saviour, Labuan
Anglican Diocese of Sabah

Message from Pastor-in-Charge, Ps Sim Shiu Kee

Today we are celebrating Mother’s day. What an opportunity for us to honor all our mothers, especially you who are in our Sunday services. To express our appreciation and love to our mothers, we will be presenting gifts to bless them. But the best gift they receive is the respect and love from their children. Why not at least today, we go to them and wish them a Blessed Mother’s Day and say, “Mom, thank you for everything that you have invested in my life, I love you.”

Many of us now have more understanding about the Year of Jubilee. Our Diocese will enter into Jubilee on July 24th and our nation on the September 16th. How are we to prepare to enter Jubilee? One of the preparations is back-to-basic, like, read your Bible, at least 5 chapters a day. Many of us have started, and discovered that our lives have been reconnected to God, more sensitive in hearing from the Lord. As Church staff, we are experiencing that by just reading the Word of God, 5 chapters a day our spiritual lives have been revived and nourished. Therefore,
I strongly encourage the whole church to continue to read God’s Word as a sign of repentance.

James 4:17 “So when you know the good things you should do and don’t do them, you sin.” Reading God’s Word is a good thing, if we don’t do it, we sin. Let us repent and sin no more! The Word of God is the foundation of our faith, without faith we cannot please God. Besides this, it also helps us to pray according to His will, and surely our prayer will be answered. Let us have this knowledge and to move on and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour which is coming upon us. Amen!
